    Back to school: Help for families comes at a good time


    Middletown — The new school year is a good time to make small changes that can benefit the whole family and Cornell Cooperative Extension is offering the following programs for parents and caregivers:

    Healthy Children/Healthy Families - for parents/caregivers of children 3-11 years

    Beginning Thursday, Sept. 10, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m., at Cornell Cooperative Extension, Middletown

    (Priority given to families with limited income)

    Discipline is not a Dirty Word - for parents/caregivers of children 2-12 years

    Beginning Tues., Sept. 29, 7-9 p.m. at Sanfordville Elementary, Warwick

    Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 20, 10 a.m. - noon at George Robinson Center, Middletown

    Raising Responsible Children (new) - for parents/caregivers of children 2-12 years

    Beginning Thursday, Oct.1, 10 a.m. - noon at Middletown Board of Education Office

    Strengthening Families Program - for parents/caregivers to attend with their children ages 10-14

    (A family meal is included each week.)

    Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 30, 6 - 8:45 p.m. at Circleville Middle School



    (Priority given to Pine Bush School District residents.)

    Beginning in Jan. 2010, 6 - 8:45 p.m. at Cornell Cooperative Extension, Middletown

    (Limited to families of the Hudson Valley Relatives as Parents Program.)

    The Relatives as Parents Program - for grandparents and others who are primary caregivers for related children of all ages.



    Monthly “Coffee and Conversation” support groups and 4-H Youth Development clubs meet 6:30 - 8 p.m. in Middletown, Central Valley and Newburgh.
