    See you at the parade

Don’t miss one of Chester’s most popular events: its famous Halloween parade and party, now in its 20th year. The parade starts at 10 Greycourt Ave. in historic downtown Chester at 2 p.m. and ends at Vadala Road. Registration starts at 1 p.m. The party will continue after the parade until 5 p.m. — rain or shine. There’ll be live music and a DJ, a costume contest with prizes, refreshments (including sugar-free snacks), tractor rides, and games. Each participant is asked to bring one non-perishable food item for the Chester food pantry and one bag of candy, which can be dropped off at registration. New and used Halloween costumes and accessories for children in need can be dropped off at the Village of Chester police station, located at 47 Main Street. To enter a float in the parade, call Jack Courtenay of the Chester Village Police Benevolent Association at 494-6595. Anyone who wishes to make a donation or volunteer may call Lynn Scire of Ark-Angels Animal Rescue at 610-4062. Pictured: A pretty pirate from last year’s Halloween parade.
