    Police search for bank robber

Pine Island — A masked gunman robbed the Bank of America branch on County Route 1 in Pine Island just before 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 15, and fled on foot toward Vernon, N.J., along Glenwood Road.

Warwick police have determined the robber’s route but have yet to discover which security cameras, if any, show the gunman. Pine Island is very rural, and the bank branch is isolated and easy to get away from very quickly, said Warwick’s Chief of Police Thomas McGovern Jr. The armed robber covered everything except his nose, eyes and forehead. The man is described as white and wears prescription eyeglasses.

McGovern said the police in Vernon Township are supporting Warwick’s investigation on a daily basis right now. The amount of money the robber got away with has not been released. Calls to Bank of America for comment were not returned.
