Warwick school district community forum is Nov. 7

WARWICK — The Warwick Valley Central School District will hold a community forum be on Sat., Nov. 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Warwick Valley Middle School.

The forum’s intent is to gather input from a broad range of Warwick residents on important issues that will guide the District and the Board of Education in the strategic planning of Warwick schools, said officials.

The day is planned to include discussion of results of the community survey the district recently conducted and panel and group dialogue on a range of topics pertinent to the future planning of the school district. Discussions will center on critical questions generated from the results of the survey. It is anticipated that follow-up sessions with stakeholders will take place to assess progress on values and goals.

    Seward teacher pleads not guilty

Florida - The S. S. Seward Institute English teacher charged with having oral sex with his former student pleaded not guilty on Thursday, Oct. 22, before Village of Florida Justice Richard Shuback.

Brian Egan, 40, of Chester, faces one felony count of criminal sexual acts in the third degree. He also is being investigated by the state’s Education Department, which was notified by authorities of Egan’s Oct. 8th arrest.

These felony charges generally result in immediate suspension or reassignment; however, the school has posted no news about Egan or his classes on its Web site and the teacher’s Web page at the school remains active.

The Florida Superintendent of Schools Douglas Burnside has declined to disclose any information about the teacher’s whereabouts or employment status, calling it a “personnel issue.” Egan is free on $2,500 bail.

Egan admitted to receiving oral sex from his former student who was sixteen at the time numerous times after school at the S.S. Seward Institute. Egan told investigators that the acts were consensual.
