Highland Mills United Methodist Church hosts ‘Operation Christmas Child’ Sunday

Highland Mills - Echoing the spirit of “giving is the reason for the season,” the Highland Mills United Methodist Church will hold an “Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Filling” party on Sunday, Nov. 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. following the morning’s worship service.

Thanks to donations from church members, friends and local merchants, the shoeboxes will be filled with school supplies, basic hygiene items, small toys, clothing and other everyday items, then shipped to children in need throughout the world.

“Operation Christmas Child” is run as a project of Samaritan’ Purse.

The Shoebox Filling party is open to everyone in the community and all are welcome. Refreshments will be provided. Donations of $7 per box are requested which will go toward shipment of the shoeboxes to children around the world. The church hopes to fill 300 shoeboxes as part of this year’s program.

The Highland Mills United Methodist Church is located on Route 32 at Ridge Road in Highland Mills. For more information, please call 774-2473 or 928-6177 or go to www.highlandmillsumc.org.
