Food drive for food pantries set for tonight

Monroe - The families requesting food donations have almost tripled since last year, leaving the pantries of the First Presbyterian Church and United Methodist Churches extremely low.

Therefore, a combined food drive donation drop-off night has been scheduled for Friday, Nov. 6, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, 142 Stage Road in Monroe.

Items should be in boxes, cans or plastic (no glass please). Only non-perishable goods. They should be in good condition, in their original unopened package and recently purchased. Donate healthful items if you can, since many families have young children and teens. Also, some of their families are “single-person” households, so where possible, donate items that serve one or two people.

Packing boxes are also requested to create a healthy selection of foods for a few days for our neighbors in need.

If you’d like to volunteer that night to help pack boxes, or if you have any questions, please contact Alicia D’Amico at adamico7@optonline.net or 845-527-7339.
