    Celebration on Mohawk Boardwalk

Santa stops to deliver a candy cane and smile to Ava Miller, age 3 of Sparta.

A double celebration took place on the Lake Mohawk Boardwalk on Friday evening, Dec. 4. The lighting of the Christmas Tree at the beginning of the boardwalk and the German Christmas Market or Weihnachtsmarkt both kicked off on Friday, with the market beginning in the afternoon and the tree lighting taking place in the evening. Patrons packed the boardwalk to browse the wares shown by vendors and enjoy German fare and other treats. Santa Claus, who arrived by boat, visited with children who attended the event. The Christmas Market was also open on Saturday. Proceeds from the event benefited local charities and organizations.
