Christmas in July at Milford Manor

Reindeer Rotarians Marilyn Lichtenberg, JoAnn TenHoeve, and Marie Blackman gathered at Milford Manor to entertain the residents and to celebrate Christmas in July.

West Milford — Who says it has to be cold and snowy to celebrate Christmas here in West Milford! The West Milford Rotary treated the residents of Milford Manor to Christmas in July. Members of the Rotary and some of their family members dressed as elves and reindeer to sing Christmas carols to 50 enthusiastic residents. And they sang along. The final song, “Here Comes Santa Claus,” was the highlight, bringing Santa dressed in his best beach clothes to distribute the gifts to each resident.

The Rotary members visit Milford Manor on a regular basis, helping to entertain the residents throughout the year. Their Christmas in July is a yearly event.

The West Milford Rotary meets every Tuesday for lunch at the Passport Cafe. Internationally, it is the oldest service organization in the world and has over 1.2 million members. The Interact Club at West Milford High School is sponsored by Rotary.

Rotary Santa, also known as Alan Edelstein, surprised the guests with gifts.

Rotarians Marie Blackman, JoAnn TenHoeve, Marilyn Lichtenberg, Todd Soltesz, Alan Edelstein, Ken Hetrick, Glenn Gross and Eric Kerssen, along with Kerssen’s sons Patrick and Alex, who assisted as elves, led the residents of Milford Manor in traditional and fun Christmas carols.
