 Only in West Milford-The whup-whup of Officer Eric Darnsteadt’s siren did little but gain a few gobble-gobbles and some feather rustling as these cheeky turkeys chose to defy the law and stayed right in front of the patrol car. Lorraine Zimmermann Lorraine Bode Zimmermann, 80, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 at her home in Sparta. Lorraine was born on Nov. 4, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Otto and Katherine Bode. She grew up in East Rutherford where her parents were former owners of Ott’s Spot Restaurant. She graduated from East Rutherford High School and attended Syracuse University. At the age of 16 her parents bought a home in Lake Mohawk. In 1950, she and her husband moved to the lake where they have called home ever since. Full Story

Carl C. Brand Carl C. Brand, a carpenter, passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 at his home in Newfoundland. He was 43 years old. Born in Englewood, he lived in Ramsey before moving to Newfoundland 25 years ago. Surviving are his mother, Rosemary (McCullagh) Brand, his companion Robin Antanaitis and a brother Sean, all of Newfoundland. His father Kurt C. Brand predeceased him in 1997. Visiting will take place on Friday, Sept. 3, from 7-9 p.m. at the Richards Funeral Home, 1440 Union Valley Road, West Milford. Final disposition private. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Newfoundland First Aid, Route 23 North, Newfoundland, NJ 07435. Full Story
